Americans reignite patriotism as Army achieves recruitment goal 4 months ahead of schedule

The United States Army announced on Tuesday (June 3rd) that the desire of American people to serve in the Army has significantly increased, with the Army reaching its recruitment goal for this year – 61,000 new recruits – four months ahead of schedule. The strong recruitment momentum reflects a renewed sense of patriotism and duty among young Americans.

The statement mentioned that this year’s recruitment goal has been raised by 10% compared to last year, from 55,000 to 61,000 individuals. Moreover, the recent recruitment trend has been particularly strong, with the daily signing rate averaging 56% higher than the same period last year.

US Army Secretary Daniel P. Driscoll commented that President Trump and the Secretary of Defense’s “Putting Soldiers First” policy has had a tangible impact. An increasing number of young Americans are showing a strong desire to join the world’s most powerful land army forces.

Driscoll, a former Army veteran and venture capitalist, was nominated by President Trump to serve as the Secretary of the Army after the election victory.

“I am incredibly proud of the Army recruiters and training officers. Their dedication and professionalism have helped the US Army achieve its annual recruitment target four months ahead of schedule,” Driscoll stated.

For the past decade, the US Army has been facing a shortage of manpower. In 2023, the Army fell short of its 65,000 recruitment target by about 11,000 soldiers.

Although the Army had previously made significant efforts to strengthen recruitment, it was only after President Trump returned to the White House and appointed a new Secretary of Defense that the number of new recruits began to increase significantly.

The US Army will soon celebrate its 250th anniversary on June 14, 2025.
