American farmer grows world’s heaviest peach, breaks Guinness World Record

In 2025, a farmer in Virginia, USA grew a giant peach weighing over 800 grams, making it the heaviest peach in the world and officially certified by the Guinness World Records. However, the farmer mentioned that he did not intentionally grow such a large peach; it was purely an unexpected outcome due to this year’s weather conditions.

According to reports from the Associated Press, Henry Chiles, a resident of the state, runs a fruit orchard named Chiles Peach Orchard in Crozet.

During peach picking in early September, harvesters discovered a massive peach that could potentially break the Guinness World Record. Chiles applied for certification from the organization, which ultimately confirmed the new world record.

The Guinness World Records stated that the peach, named PF-27A and grown by Chiles, weighed 1 pound 13 ounces (828.5 grams), officially recognized as the heaviest peach in the world on September 10, 2025.

Chiles explained to the organization that the climate conditions during spring and summer this year were ideal for the growth of this giant peach. Reduced spring frost competition for blossoms on the trees and summer rainfall contributed to its growth.

Chiles Peach Orchard shared the exciting news and photos of the peach breaking the world record on their Instagram page. They wrote, “This giant peach is now the Guinness World Record holder. We are honored to have grown the heaviest peach in the world!”

Chiles Peach Orchard congratulated Chiles and expressed gratitude for the Guinness World Record certification.

Chiles told WVIR TV, “We didn’t set out to grow the largest peach; it just happened that the weather was favorable this year, resulting in such a large peach.”

He expressed his anticipation of enjoying the record-breaking peach with his family.

Previously, the heaviest peach in the world weighed 1.8 pounds (816.5 grams) and was grown by farmer Al Pearson in Peach County, Georgia, in 2018.

Peaches are known for their rich nutritional content and various health benefits like cancer prevention, blood pressure reduction, cholesterol lowering, and aiding digestion. However, there are precautions for four groups of people when consuming peaches, including those with high blood sugar and diabetes, individuals trying to lose weight, kidney disease patients, and those allergic to the fuzz of peaches.

For those allergic to peach fuzz, they can remove the fuzz before consumption or opt for fuzz-free peaches. Sweet peaches have minimal fuzz and may not trigger allergies or cause as severe allergic reactions.
