In the news from Epoch Times on May 30, 2024, the 20th-anniversary concert of the popular band Universe Man’s “Alpha: Back to the Future” received rave reviews during their performance at the Taipei Arena in 2023, moving tens of thousands of fans. The success led to an additional show in Kaohsiung, and tickets for the June Tokyo concert were sold out within seconds.
Universe Man’s concerts often see elementary school students attending with their parents, showcasing a wide range of age groups among their fans. They have also garnered a significant following among young fans.
On the 28th, Universe Man was invited to be “guest music teachers” for a day at Xiangtian Elementary School in Changhua County, bringing a unique music class experience to the students. Upon learning that the band has been together for 20 years, the students jokingly remarked with childlike innocence, “20 years! That’s older than all of us!” Their pure remarks brought continuous laughter throughout the event.
The three band members, who have a strong love for children, wore a “paternal smile” throughout the event, looking at the elementary students. Aqui, who is a father himself, mentioned, “I have been observing each child, seeing who might grow up to be like my son Xiaohu.” The trio also reminisced about their own elementary school days, recalling carefree memories of playing dodgeball and reading comics.
During their stint as one-day teachers, Universe Man performed “Your Blue” with harmonicas alongside the students. The band revealed that the students practiced diligently and played excellently, looking forward to the performance together. Their collaboration with the Xiangtian Elementary School harmonica team is set to take place in September.
Lead singer Xiaoyu of Universe Man showed his youthful spirit by becoming the king of the kids, immersing himself in the group of children. It was said that a young boy could mimic monkey sounds very well. Xiaoyu joined in as a “monkey member,” interacting with the kids through monkey calls, displaying a carefree and joyful demeanor that delighted both teachers and students alike.
