AKMU celebrates 10th anniversary debut by donating 140 million Korean won for commemoration.

AKMU (Akdong Musician), a South Korean sibling duo consisting of brother Lee Chan-hyuk and sister Lee Su-hyun, is celebrating its 10th anniversary since debut this year. The pair has donated a total of 141 million South Korean won (approximately 364,000 New Taiwan dollars / 110,000 US dollars) to commemorate this milestone.

Lee Chan-hyuk and Lee Su-hyun won the championship in the second season of the talent show “K-pop Star” in 2012. On April 7, 2014, they officially debuted under the name Akdong Musician with their first self-composed album “PLAY.”

Their management company, YG Entertainment, announced on the 23rd that the donation amount from AKMU totaled 141 million South Korean won. In honor of their debut anniversary on April 7, they have divided the sum and donated 47 million won to three different organizations.

Raised by missionary parents in Mongolia, where they spent their early years, the siblings are directing this contribution towards the “AKMU Forest of Love” reforestation project aimed at combating desertification in Mongolia and addressing climate issues. The funds will also go towards aiding low-income households affected by severe and rare diseases, as well as assisting isolated youth.

Furthermore, AKMU, which recently launched their 10th-anniversary project, will host a concert on June 15 and 16 at the KSPO DOME in Seoul Olympic Park to celebrate their journey over the past decade.
