The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) stated today (23rd) that the United States strongly supports Taiwan’s meaningful participation in international organizations, urging the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to invite Taiwan to participate in the ICAO Assembly as a guest of the Council Chair.
The 42nd ICAO Assembly convened today, with Taiwan not invited to attend. AIT posted on Facebook, emphasizing that the United States strongly supports Taiwan’s meaningful participation in international organizations, including the ICAO.
AIT emphasized that the United States urges ICAO Secretary-General Juan Carlos Salazar and Council Chair Salvatore Sciacchitano to facilitate Taiwan’s participation in the 42nd ICAO Assembly as a guest of the Council Chair. They believe that Taiwan’s involvement in ICAO affairs will enhance global aviation safety.
Previously, Canada’s “Cable Public Affairs Channel” (CPAC) covered the issue of Taiwan not being invited to participate in the ICAO Assembly, broadcasting the first-ever international press conference held by the Taiwan ICAO Action Group at Parliament Hill in Ottawa. Canadian Liberal MP Judy Sgro and Conservative MP Michael Cooper attended and addressed the conference.
