Artificial intelligence (AI) replacing human jobs has always been a topic of discussion. On Wednesday, January 8th, a survey by the World Economic Forum revealed that 41% of employers plan to reduce their workforce as AI automation advances.
According to CNN’s report on the World Economic Forum’s “Future of Jobs” report, among hundreds of large companies globally surveyed, 77% stated their intention to retrain and enhance the skills of existing employees between 2025 and 2030 to adapt to the future work environment.
During a press conference ahead of the Davos Annual Meeting, the World Economic Forum highlighted that advancements in AI and renewable energy are reshaping the labor market, increasing the demand for certain technical or professional positions while decreasing the need for others, such as graphic designers.
Saadia Zahidi, Managing Director of the forum, emphasized the role of generative AI in reshaping various industries. This technology can create text, images, and other content based on user prompts.
Whether due to the proliferation of AI or other trends, postal service workers, administrative assistants, and payroll clerks are among the fastest declining jobs in the coming years.
The report identifies graphic designers and legal secretaries as some of the fastest declining job positions, marking the first prediction of its kind in several editions of the “Future of Jobs” report.
Many workers have already been replaced by AI. In recent years, some tech companies, including document storage service Dropbox and language learning app Duolingo, have cited AI as the reason for downsizing their workforce.
