After Trump attacked, First Lady Jill talks with Melania.

After the attempted assassination of former President Trump in the United States, First Lady Jill Biden and former First Lady Melania Trump spoke on the phone on Sunday afternoon.

According to The Hill, the office of the First Lady confirmed to the media that their conversation took place earlier on Sunday following Melania’s statement about the assassination attempt on Saturday.

Several media outlets reported on this news, but so far, there have been no reports about the details of their conversation.

In a statement posted on social media on Sunday morning, Melania expressed, “When I saw that fierce bullet hitting my husband Donald, I realized that my and Barron’s lives were on the brink of catastrophic change.”

She thanked the Secret Service agents and law enforcement officers who risked their lives to protect Trump, and while expressing concern for her husband and son Barron, she also mentioned her care for her fellow Americans.

“Today, please transcend hatred, sarcasm, and the foolish thoughts that incite violence,” she wrote in her statement, further adding, “The wind of change has arrived. To those among you who shout support, I thank you. I commend those among you who go beyond political differences — thank you for remembering that every politician is a man or woman with a family full of love.”

Before First Lady Jill called Melania, President Biden also spoke with Trump shortly after the incident last Saturday. Biden later stated that he had a good conversation with his political opponent.

“I sincerely thank him that he is currently in good condition and recovering. We had a brief and pleasant conversation,” Biden said on Sunday, adding that he and the First Lady continue to pray for Trump and his family.

On Sunday night, Biden also addressed the nation from the Oval Office of the White House, stating that the attempted assassination of Trump is causing America to regress and calling on all parties to “lower the temperature of our politics.”
