The 2024 presidential election has entered its final sprint, with Democratic candidate and current Vice President, He Jinli, hoping to capitalize on the momentum from the just-concluded Democratic National Convention (DNC), while Republican candidate and former President Trump is honing his campaign strategy.
As with any election, the key battleground states have always been fiercely contested by both parties. Next week, He Jinli and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, will kick off a bus tour rally in southern Georgia in a bid to attract more voters in the state.
This will be the first joint campaign event for the two in Georgia. The campaign team announced that the bus tour will conclude with a rally held by He Jinli in the Savannah area. Walz will depart the state before the rally commences.
He Jinli and Walz’s campaign efforts in Georgia come at a time when Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, a Republican, has endorsed Trump. Trump expressed gratitude for Kemp’s support on social media.
Opinion polls indicate a close competition between He Jinli and Trump, with Georgia being one of the seven key states that may determine the election outcome.
On Friday, independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced his withdrawal from the presidential race and pledged his support for Trump. His exit reshapes the 2024 election into a head-to-head contest between Trump and He Jinli.
Kennedy joined Trump at another pivotal swing state, Arizona, for a campaign rally.
“Don’t you want a president who can lead us out of war and rebuild the middle class of this country?” Kennedy rallied for Trump at the event.
Following the conclusion of the Republican and Democratic National Conventions, the next pivotal moment in the presidential campaign will be the debate between the candidates on September 10, hosted by ABC News. The details for the second debate, including the location, time, and moderator, are yet to be finalized.
According to CNN, He Jinli is already preparing for the upcoming debate in the following month. It will mark her first direct debate with Trump as a presidential candidate. Her team is consciously starting preparations early, recognizing that mistakes on the debate stage could instantly shift the campaign dynamics.
Competitor Trump has also begun preparations for the debate. He has enlisted former US Representative Tulsi Gabbard to assist him in preparing for the showdown with He Jinli in September.
Gabbard had exited the Democratic Party in 2022. In the 2020 presidential race, Gabbard was one of He Jinli’s several competitors. The two had engaging encounters in the Democratic primary debates, showcasing Gabbard as a strong contender against He Jinli.
He Jinli’s campaign team disclosed that they have reserved $370 million for TV and digital advertising expenditures until the November election, including what the campaign team claims to be the largest digital ad buy in American political history.
In the upcoming weeks, He Jinli faces a crucial period where she must elucidate more detailed plans to address America’s paramount issues, including immigration, climate change, gun violence, and crime. Undoubtedly, she will be pressed to clarify her foreign policy principles and provide concrete measures to handle various international hotspots.
Next Monday, Trump will travel to Detroit to attend a conference hosted by the National Guard Association of the United States, and he plans to deliver a speech at the annual summit of a conservative women’s group in Washington next Friday.
Campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt stated that Trump will hold at least one more campaign event between these two engagements, but did not provide specific details.
