37-year-old Chinese male star Yu Menglong fell to his death from a building in Beijing on the 11th, shocking the entertainment industry. His studio confirmed the tragic news on the same day and ruled out foul play. However, his cause of death has raised doubts. His mentor, renowned Taiwanese manager Sun Derong, took to Facebook on the 12th to call for uncovering the truth of how much suffering and pressure Yu Menglong went through in the end.
Sun Derong, 64, expressed on Facebook on the 12th that he was Yu Menglong’s mentor when he first started his career, and he “simply couldn’t accept” the news of his death. Back then, seeing his passion for the entertainment industry, Sun provided free training for a year and a half. Due to work requirements, he eventually returned to Taiwan and unconditionally returned the artist contract.
Yu Menglong rose to fame in recent years with roles in several popular costume dramas such as “Eternal Love,” “The Rebel Princess,” “The Legend of White Snake,” and “Across the Ocean of Eternal Night.” Sun Derong mentioned that he felt proud to see Yu Menglong’s smooth career development from the talent show “Happy Boys” to dramas, stating that “my training was accepted in mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.”
Upon hearing about Yu Menglong’s passing, Sun Derong blamed himself, saying, “I planned for my artists like my own sons, but they have grown distant from me for too long. I feel guilty about what happened to Yu Menglong this time, after all, the child was raised by me.”
Sun Derong referred to many conspiracy theories circulating in the media, but what concerns him the most is how much suffering and pressure Yu Menglong endured in the end. He called for uncovering the truth and stated, “I will definitely participate in this investigation to ensure he leaves with dignity.”
According to reports from mainland Chinese media, Yu Menglong fell from a fifth-floor apartment in Beijing, with many suspicious signs at the scene, including scratches outside the window and traces of damaged screens.
Some internet users have raised six major doubts and demanded a reexamination of the cause of death, especially the list of friends who met with Yu Menglong before the incident, which suddenly started circulating on the internet on the 13th. The police quickly concluded “no foul play” within 12 hours, leading many netizens to question their decision.
