Actor Walker’s 4 Gang Members Accused of Homicide

Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced on August 19th that two men suspected of killing actor Johnny Wactor from the TV show “General Hospital” will be charged with murder, with one facing additional charges that could result in a life sentence if convicted.

Last Thursday, police arrested four suspects involved in the case, all of whom have a long history of criminal records dating back to their youth.

According to authorities, the four suspects appearing in court on the 19th are members of the notorious Los Angeles gang “Florencia 13,” but they have not been formally charged as gang members.

District Attorney George Gascón stated in a press conference that 19-year-old Robert Barceleau from Huntington Park is accused of shooting Wactor on May 25th. Gascón said, “Barceleau is the one who pulled the trigger.”

On that fateful night, Wactor encountered thieves trying to steal the catalytic converter from his car in the parking lot after finishing work, and he was shot and killed.

Barceleau is currently being held without bail and faces charges of murder as well as special charges relating to robbery resulting in death, potentially leading to life imprisonment. He is also charged with attempted armed robbery and grand theft.

Eighteen-year-old Sergio Estrada is charged with murder, attempted robbery, theft, and illegal possession of a firearm. The other two suspects face lesser charges.

Eighteen-year-old Leonel Gutierrez faces charges of armed robbery and theft, while 22-year-old Frank Olano is accused of involvement in murder, receiving stolen property, and possessing a firearm.

Los Angeles Police Department’s Acting Chief Dominic Choi stated that the investigation into the case is ongoing and declined to disclose more details about the suspects and their criminal histories.

Choi said, “Though this case has been tough on all parties involved, I believe we have brought forward the right charges against the right individuals.”

Gascón did not pursue additional charges of being gang members against the suspects, which could have potentially doubled their sentences. However, he indicated that additional charges may be added before the preliminary hearing. ◇
