A series of jumping and rail track incidents occurred at Hangzhou Station.

On the afternoon of July 7th, a 42-year-old man jumped from the second floor of the waiting room at Hangzhou South Railway Station. Just two days prior, a young person lay on the tracks at Hangzhou East Station. These incidents of attempted suicide at Hangzhou stations have sparked widespread concern online.

According to the alert issued by the Hangzhou Railway Public Security Bureau, at around 3:30 p.m. on July 7th, a passenger named Wang (male, 42 years old, holding ticket G2331 from Hangzhou South to Yuyao North) climbed onto the handrail of the second floor at Hangzhou South Station and jumped. Staff contacted emergency services and Wang was taken to the hospital for treatment. Further details are currently under investigation.

Eyewitnesses posted photos of the scene, describing the individual as jumping from a high place, estimated to be over ten meters high.

Some netizens mentioned that they were playing on their phones when they suddenly heard screams followed by a loud noise.

On the afternoon of the 7th, staff at Hangzhou South Station confirmed that a person did fall from a height at the station, and the individual has been transported to receive medical treatment. The waiting order at the station has returned to normal. Hangzhou South Station police officers stated they were unable to provide further information.

On July 5th, Hangzhou Railway Station issued a notice stating that at around 4:34 p.m., when train G7545 was approaching platform 25 at Hangzhou East Station, a passenger suddenly jumped onto the tracks. The train immediately applied emergency brakes, but due to the short distance, it was unable to stop in time, resulting in a “collision” with the passenger, who was subsequently “sent for medical treatment”.

An eyewitness posted on social media, stating, “I was on the escalator when I heard the crazy train horn, and subway staff loudly yelling through the speaker. Then I saw the person lying on the tracks as the train passed by.”

A passenger who was at Hangzhou East Station waiting for the G7545 train mentioned, “I was waiting on the platform and witnessed someone jumping onto the tracks. I then heard the sound of the train braking for several seconds. Eventually, the front of the train stopped about nine carriages from the incident area.”

A screenshot from an online chat showed that the individual attempting suicide was a man from Guizhou born in 2004.
