A row of people floats in the air in front of a waterfall in a scenic spot in Zhejiang, China.

Recently, a female student taking photos in front of a waterfall at the Baizhangji Scenic Area in Zhejiang Province attracted attention and discussion online as a line of people floated in the air like a barrage.

On October 5th, the topic of “Female Student Takes Photos in Front of Waterfall, Line of People Floats in the Air” trended on several mainland platforms.

According to multiple mainland media reports, while a female student was taking photos in front of a waterfall at the Baizhangji Scenic Area in Zhejiang Province, a line of hanging wires tourists suddenly entered the frame behind her.

(Hanging wire refers to a special effects technique in film and television where actors are suspended in the air by thin steel wires, performing high-difficulty actions like flying and somersaults to create a “wall-running” visual effect.)

The on-site video shows a female student standing in front of the waterfall, focused on taking photos, when suddenly a line of “floating” figures appeared in the air in the frame, as if descending from the sky and blending into the natural spectacle. This dreamlike and fantastical scene seemed to transcend the boundaries of reality and virtuality, sparking numerous online discussions and comments.

Many online users joked:

“Hahaha, this scene is so funny.”

“Which film company’s stunt actors are shooting a movie here?”

“Hahaha, the two kids in front are not moving at all, thought it was a cheap CGI video.”

“This looks so fresh! The photo composition is great, looks comfortable from a color perspective.”

Some online users also expressed: “The seamless integration of the barrage-like crowd in the air with nature, with the girl standing elegantly in front of the waterfall, posing gracefully to take a series of photos. Suddenly, a row of people floating in the air like a barrage, wearing bright clothes, holding cameras and phones, swiftly crossing from different angles and heights, forming a colorful barrage.”

The Baizhangji Waterfall is one of the “Top Ten Waterfalls in China,” located deep in the mountains of Wencheng County, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province, in a 1,200-meter long “V” shaped mountain gorge, renowned for its unique three-tiered waterfall.

The three-tiered waterfall flows down from the top of the mountain gorge, over 30 meters wide, with a drop of over 300 meters, incredibly spectacular and the tallest waterfall in China.

The three-tiered waterfall is the hometown of Liu Bowen, a founding hero of the Ming Dynasty, who once praised this waterfall spectacle in a poem, “The cliff’s steepness is astonishing, throwing crystal water from a hundred depths into the sky. Not avoiding flying frost and snow in June, even angrier thunder in the three winters.”

In 2023, the Baizhangji Scenic Area in Zhejiang also gained sudden popularity, with over a hundred photos posed in front of the waterfall shared on mainland network platforms, and the video platform’s views on the topic of “Baizhangji” reaching as high as 210 million. At that time, mainland netizens speculated that this was a promotional tactic by the scenic area to attract tourists.
