Recently, a student from a middle school in Baise, Guangxi fell to his death on campus. It was rumored online that the student’s parents revealed that the child fell to his death after being talked to by the homeroom teacher.
On May 13, the joint investigation team of the Youjiang District in Baise, Guangxi reported that on the evening of May 8, a student named Wang from the Sixth Junior High School in Youjiang District fell from a building at the school and died despite rescue efforts being ineffective.
The report only mentioned that this case has ruled out being a criminal case or related to campus bullying, claiming that the investigation team is in communication with the family on a daily basis regarding relevant matters.
However, netizens who appeared to have inside information refuted the official report: “Can you confirm the accuracy of this information? The school is still cordoned off, and there were people crying at the door from last night until today.”
Online, it was also circulated that the parents of the student released photos of their daughter before and during her time in the hospital. The parents wrote: “My child, Wang Yilin, fell to her death after being talked to by the homeroom teacher at Baise Sixth Junior High School. I feel so helpless, what should I do?”
A supposed cousin of Wang Yilin wrote: “Your departure caught us off guard. You, in the prime of your life, left us with regrets. From now on, your parents have lost a daughter, your sister has lost a sister, your uncles and aunts have lost their darling niece, and your grandparents have lost their granddaughter. You left behind so many loved ones who can no longer hear your voice calling out. It’s heartbreaking. May you be a carefree angel, and in the next life, let us be a family again.” This cousin also repeatedly stated, when responding to questions from netizens, that Wang Yilin fell to her death after being called for a conversation by the homeroom teacher.
People’s comments demanded the disclosure of surveillance footage.
“Check the office surveillance, see what the teacher actually said.” “Usually, during critical moments, important times, the surveillance footage tends to be missing.” “If they can block this information, then for sure, the surveillance footage is also tampered with.” “Why aren’t the school’s cameras made public?”
A supposed elementary school classmate of Wang Yilin said: “She was very warm towards her classmates; in elementary school, I loved playing with her the most. After entering junior high, everyone went their separate ways for school, and I had little contact with Yilin. Hearing about this incident, I am truly heartbroken. How did Yilin end up like this today?”
