Taiwanese popular band “Funny Universe” kicked off their world tour last year at the Taipei Arena, attracting thousands of fans to their massive concert every week. On the 25th, they made a stop in Xi’an, where they were unexpectedly joined on stage by veteran singer Ren Xianqi during the encore, much to the delight of the audience.
During their journey, “Funny Universe” has experienced all four seasons, traveling for 413 days from Taipei to Kaohsiung and finally reaching Xi’an. They have flown over 22 cities, covering a distance of 65,161 kilometers, and shared fun-filled nights with 330,000 “Guavas” (a term used by fans). Xi’an marked their 33rd performance on the tour.
In Xi’an, “Funny Universe” performed one of their classic songs, “Lost You in This City.” To everyone’s surprise, Ren Xianqi appeared on stage, slowly rising up with the sound of the piano, and together with the band, they delighted the audience of thousands.
Ren Xianqi revealed, “The song ‘Lost You in This City’ is the first song of theirs that caught my attention. I thought, who wrote such a beautiful song? The progressive arrangement is very visual, and when I listened to this song, I knew this band would have an infinite future!”
Back in 2021, “Funny Universe” established a connection with the senior artist Ren Xianqi. During an album signing event for “Luck Comes and Goes” in Ximending, Ren Xianqi surprisingly appeared, leaving the band speechless with excitement. Since then, they have maintained a tradition of meeting once a year.
In 2022, during the “Met You in This City” tour concert in Changsha, Ren Xianqi made a sudden appearance. In 2023, they collaborated on the show “Our Song,” and their performance of “Folding” received over 3 million views, showcasing the high level of resonance between them. “Funny Universe” was also invited as guests at Ren Xianqi’s concert in Shenzhen in 2023, demonstrating their mutual support in the music industry.
At the “Funny Universe” concert that night, the band and Ren Xianqi recreated the highly popular song “Folding” on stage. Ren Xianqi warmly embraced members Cloud, Doggy, and Zeqian, leaving “Funny Universe” deeply touched and grateful for his unwavering support since their first signing event.
