Child’s Play” Mansion Returns to Market with Asking Price of 5.25 Million

In an exciting turn of events, the filming location of the classic American Christmas movie “Home Alone”, known for its iconic red brick mansion, has returned to the market after a 12-year hiatus, now listed at $5.25 million.

Back in 2012, the Johnson family, who are accountants, purchased this Georgian-style red brick house located in the Chicago area of Illinois for $1.585 million. Now, they are preparing to put it up for sale.

This house served as the residence of the movie’s main character, 8-year-old Kevin McCallister, in the film “Home Alone”, and to this day, fans often visit to take photos or recreate key scenes from the movie.

“It’s not uncommon for us to hear Kevin’s screams,” shared Trisha Johnson, the 51-year-old homeowner, with The Wall Street Journal. She has grown accustomed to the “joyful energy” that fans bring to their home.

“It’s so amusing to see people so excited to visit my house,” she added.

Originally built in the 1920s, this five-bedroom house sits on approximately half an acre of land, covering around 5,700 square feet with a finished basement.

After purchasing the property in 2012, the Johnsons undertook extensive renovations while preserving some elements from the movie like the front door and the central staircase where Kevin sleds down.

Despite their fondness for the house, the Johnsons have made the decision to sell it in anticipation of a favorable market outlook.

Located in Winnetka, a affluent community on the northern shore of Lake Michigan, approximately 20 miles north of Chicago, this house holds a special place in the hearts of fans and movie enthusiasts alike.
