BQE Expressway Temporary Repair: Surrounding Roads Temporarily Closed from June 1st to 3rd

The New York City Department of Transportation announced on the 21st that a section of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BQE) in Brooklyn and Queens will be closed for maintenance from 2:00 AM on June 1st (Saturday) to 4:00 AM on June 3rd (Monday). This closure marks the final maintenance operation of the year for this busy highway, and authorities anticipate increased traffic congestion during this period.

Rodriguez, the Commissioner of the Department of Transportation, stated that the stretch of BQE between Atlantic Avenue and Sands Street in the direction towards Queens will be completely shut down during this maintenance period.

In order to ease the flow of traffic and inform the public about alternate routes, the Department of Transportation recommends checking their official website for updates on road closures and detours. Additional information on the closure of surrounding roads can be found at the following link: https://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/html/pr2024/final-bqe-clousure.shtml

This temporary closure is part of ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and functionality of New York City’s roadways, and drivers are advised to plan ahead and use alternative routes to avoid delays during this maintenance operation on the BQE.
