The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced on Tuesday, November 4th, an immediate recall of Häagen-Dazs Mini Dark Chocolate Ice Cream Bars due to the product not being labeled to indicate wheat allergens.
On Tuesday, the FDA published a
recall notice
issued by the manufacturer. The notice stated that on November 3, 2025, Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream voluntarily recalled certain batches of Häagen-Dazs Dark Chocolate Mini Ice Cream Bars, which may contain undisclosed wheat ingredients. Individuals with wheat allergies or severe sensitivity who consume these products may experience severe, even life-threatening allergic reactions.
These ice cream bars were sold in packs of six at Kroger and Giant Eagle supermarkets in 31 states across the U.S.
The notice instructed consumers to check the batch number on the back of the packaging to determine if they have purchased the recalled products. Packaging with the batch number LLA519501 and an expiration date of January 31, 2027, fall within the recall scope. The packaging of these mini ice cream bars did not specify that wheat could be present in the ingredients. The company may have used incorrect packaging during the production process. The recall does not include mini ice cream bars with batch numbers other than LLA519501, nor does it include other brand products sold in other retail stores or Häagen-Dazs boutiques. Consumers are advised not to consume the product and return it to the store for a full refund.
The recall was initiated due to the product posing a higher risk of allergies. Individuals with wheat allergies or intolerance who consume this product may experience serious health issues. Symptoms may manifest shortly after consumption and include hives or rashes, swelling, oral or throat irritation, nausea or vomiting, and difficulty breathing. Severe wheat allergy sufferers are at risk of experiencing life-threatening anaphylactic shock. If you have consumed the recalled product and experience allergic symptoms, please call 911.
As of now, there have been no reports of injuries or illnesses related to the recalled product.
