Online Seminar on the 26th: Application to Military Academies and Top Universities

The Southern California Chinese Parent-Teacher Association and the American Inland Chinese American School will jointly host a seminar on “Military Academies and Elite University Application Experience Sharing,” inviting the twin brothers Tian Pengxiang (Mark Tian) and Tian Pengyue (Mike Tian), along with their father Tian Zhengdong, to exchange experiences with a large number of parents and students.

Tian Pengxiang and Tian Pengyue are recent graduates of Eleanor Roosevelt High School in the Jurupa Valley Unified School District in Riverside County. Both of them have been admitted to the United States Military Academy at West Point, the United States Naval Academy, and the United States Air Force Academy this year. In addition, the brothers have also been admitted to Stanford University and multiple University of California campuses and have been awarded various scholarships.

Elder brother Tian Pengxiang has decided to pursue a dual major in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science at Stanford University and has been awarded the four-year Aviation Scholarship from the Air Force Association. Younger brother Tian Pengyue has chosen to study Bioengineering and Data Science at the University of California, Berkeley and has also received the NROTC scholarship from the United States Navy to help cover his tuition fees.

Their father, Tian Zhengdong, has been actively involved in community service within the Chinese community for many years and has been a participant and organizer in the fight against discriminatory admission practices at Harvard University. He will also engage in discussions with parents in the Chinese community during the seminar, sharing insights and experiences from over a decade of raising children, and discussing successes and failures with the audience.
