In September 2025, Wang Lihua, a veteran from Hebei Province and a human rights activist, shared his story of facing a severe medical accident at the age of 17, which led to the destruction of his family due to persecution for seeking justice. He expressed that for the past 25 years, he has struggled to live under the rule of the Communist Party and likened it to a living hell, stating that he did not want to be Chinese in his next life.
Born in 1972 in Fengnan District, Tangshan City, Hebei Province, Wang Lihua served in the Second Artillery Corps of the People’s Liberation Army of China. His parents, both retired cadres from the Fengnan District Agricultural and Animal Husbandry Bureau, experienced tragedy as they sought justice for the medical malpractice that affected their son. Wang’s mother, Zhang Shulan, was driven to mental illness and passed away on January 25, 2009 (Chinese New Year’s Eve) with grievances. His father, Wang Hewu, became incapacitated due to medical negligence, unable to care for himself or speak.
During Wang Lihua’s detention, his hospitalized father passed away suddenly, and the whereabouts of his body remain unknown.
In August of this year, Wang Lihua contacted a journalist from Dajiyuan again, sharing the struggles he faced for most of his life due to illness and the painful experiences of seeking justice. He recounted details of his life marked by suffering and efforts to seek redress for the medical accident he endured.
Wang Lihua disclosed the ordeal he experienced during and after a hernia surgery in 1989 at the Tongshan Maternal and Child Health Hospital. The surgery, recommended by a friend of his cousin who was a doctor at the hospital, resulted in complications that led to a series of health issues, including persistent intestinal obstructions. Despite his attempts to seek answers and remedies, the medical professionals failed to provide adequate explanations or treatments, leaving Wang in a state of perpetual pain and suffering.
Over the years, Wang tried various traditional and alternative treatments to alleviate his condition, including Chinese herbal medicine, qigong, cupping therapy, and more. However, the pain in his testicles and groin area persisted, eventually leading to the recommendation for surgical removal due to delayed treatment caused by medical negligence.
The account continues with Wang describing his efforts to seek justice and hold accountable those responsible for his suffering. Amidst his relentless pursuit of truth and justice, he encountered numerous obstacles, including intimidation, physical violence, and manipulation orchestrated by individuals within the local government, law enforcement, and medical institutions. The story unfolds with a series of events revealing the extent of corruption, cover-ups, and abuse of power that Wang and his family faced in their quest for justice.
The deep-rooted corruption and collusion among officials from various government agencies became apparent as Wang narrated the relentless persecution and harassment inflicted upon him and his family. The intricate web of deceit, threats, and violence woven by those in positions of authority aimed to silence him and prevent him from seeking accountability for the medical malpractice that had severely impacted his life.
Despite facing immense adversity and enduring unimaginable suffering, Wang Lihua’s determination to seek justice and expose the truth about his medical malpractice case serves as a testament to his unwavering courage and resilience. The narrative transcends individual struggle and sheds light on the systemic injustices and human rights violations prevalent in China, underscoring the urgent need for transparency, accountability, and reform within the country’s healthcare and legal systems.
