On the evening of September 13, a sudden violent wind and heavy rain swept through most parts of Beijing, causing tree branches to litter the ground. It was followed by hail, denting cars like small sedans and turning their roofs into “bubble wrap.” In some areas, the accumulated hail resembled snow. Some residents believed it was a sign of divine anger.
According to the Beijing Meteorological Observatory, between 5 pm and 10 pm on the 13th of September, scattered thunderstorms would occur in Beijing from west to east, with locally heavy rainfall and short-lived strong winds of 7-9 on the Beaufort scale, accompanied by hail in mountainous areas.
A Beijing resident, Yan Feng (alias), told Epoch Times that all vehicles were damaged by the hail, with windshields and rear windows shattered and car roofs covered in dents. “Some older people told me they haven’t seen such weather in 40 years. September is already autumn, but it’s still hot in Beijing this year,” Yan said.
Yan Feng remarked, “Usually in September, it should be a season of gentle autumn rain, but unexpectedly, Beijing is still hot and experiencing such heavy hail. This is unprecedented in my memory.” “I know in our Shijingshan area, as well as in Fengtai, the hail was very large, the size of ping-pong balls or eggs, and the ground turned white. There are online videos showing an old man outside, shirtless, clearing hail. It just feels like the heavens are angry.”
On the evening of September 13, strong hailstorms hit multiple areas in Beijing, with Fangshan, Chaoyang, Shijingshan, Daxing, Tongzhou, Dongcheng, Haidian, Xicheng, and nine other districts issuing yellow hail warnings. A Fengtai district netizen said, “I’ve never seen such large hail. Some hailstones are nearly the size of chicken eggs,” describing the dense hailfall as “the sky pouring ice cubes.”
A Beijing resident, Li Jian (alias), said, “There has always been a saying about this severe weather. In the opera of Dou E’s injustice, before being executed unjustly, she said if she was wrongly accused, it would snow heavily. As a result, snow fell in June. Now it’s the same.” “In China, in places like Masanjia in Liaoning, Jujing Village in Fengtai, and other very evil places, the methods used against dissidents are extremely vicious and even more brutal than the underworld.”
Li Jian also expressed, “Clouds in the sky don’t always mean rain, but where it rains, there are always clouds. It’s the same on the ground. In evil and unjust places where there is no justice, there will always be natural and man-made disasters.” “Natural disasters are actually man-made disasters. Faced with injustice, if you remain silent, you are an accomplice. So, disasters are the punishment from God to the silent people who tolerate injustice.”
