BoA takes her first extended break since debut, getting ready for October concert.

South Korean popular singer BoA recently mentioned “retirement” on her personal official Instagram account due to malicious attacks from netizens. On the 14th, she updated her fans on her situation through an Instagram live stream, revealing that she is currently taking her first long break since her debut and preparing for a concert scheduled for October.

In March of this year, BoA deleted all the posts on her personal official Instagram account, leaving only promotional content for her new song “Emptiness” scheduled for release that month. She also unfollowed everyone except for the account of her deceased brother, Kwon Soon-ok.

Last month, BoA posted a story on her personal official Instagram account asking, “Can I retire after the contract ends?” In order to ease her fans’ worries, she explained that her contract with the company runs until December 31, 2025, and promised to give her best as a singer until then. However, she later deleted all the posts on her Instagram account again, causing concern among her fans once more.

Yesterday (the 14th), BoA went live on her personal official Instagram account for about 5 minutes, starting by mentioning she was on her way to the company. BoA expressed, “I’m doing very well now, and I’m on my first long break since my debut,” raising her fist and smiling at the camera while exclaiming, “It’s great.” She also joked that recently she has just been “eating and sleeping non-stop.”

BoA mentioned that she will hold a concert in South Korea in October and added with a smile, “Please come and support me at the concert.” She then whispered to the camera that she was heading to the company for a meeting about the concert, waved goodbye to her fans, and ended the live stream.
