Brothers Li and Wu Write Songs to Comfort Mother Before Release, Father Passes Away

Music group “Li Wu Brothers” released their original album “PRIDE” earlier this year. One of the songs in the album, “Mom and Dad,” is a tribute to their late father and a source of solace for their grieving mother. The three brothers celebrated Mother’s Day with their mom on the eve of the holiday. On Mother’s Day itself, they were appointed as special envoys for a new song concert by their mentor, Xiao Huangqi, and conducted street interviews with fans.

This time, Li Wu Brothers are all about positive energy. Their mother Li encouraged them, saying, “Keep working hard on creating music. Mom wants to hear new songs!” She fully supports her sons’ choices, leaving the brothers deeply moved.

Hailing from Yilan, the Li Wu Brothers made their debut on the talent show “Super Red List” in 2016. Since then, they have been dedicated to making music. Their connection with the Golden Melody King, Ricky Xiao Huangqi, led to a close mentorship. With Xiao’s encouragement, the trio released the original album “PRIDE.”

The eldest brother, Runen, excels in lyrics writing, the second brother, Bangwei, is responsible for choreography and stage presence, while the youngest brother, Hongen, specializes in composing and arranging. Each brother has their own role in music creation. But their one regret is that their father passed away due to illness before the album release, bringing immense grief to the family and leaving their mother feeling lost without him, still often in tears.

Runen recalled how their father used to gather the family for meals during festivals, even when he was busy. Bangwei mentioned that besides their work commitments, they all try to spend as much time at home with their mother. Hongen emphasized the importance of taking their mother out, especially during the holidays, stating, “The most important thing now is to take good care of our mother.”

The Li Wu Brothers are very attentive to their mother’s feelings. This year, they celebrated Mother’s Day one day early at her favorite Western restaurant, enjoying a meal together as a family. As for Mother’s Day gifts, Runen shared that since their mom’s birthday is close to Mother’s Day, they plan to combine both celebrations into one, creating a bigger gift, possibly a large red envelope.

Recently, Xiao Huangqi initiated a small creative camp and invited the Li Wu Brothers to play music together. Runen fondly remembered the spontaneous collaboration, saying, “Teacher Huangqi picked up the guitar, started composing a melody, then Hongen and I joined in, and within an hour, we completed the song.” Runen worked on the lyrics, Hongen handled the studio recording, and a brand new song, “The One Who Mends Wounds,” was born within about three hours. This new song is also included in Xiao Huangqi’s recent album release.
