Last month, Liu Jian, former member of the party committee and deputy general manager of Beijing Metro Operation Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Beijing Metro Operation Company”), was investigated after being detained. Since March this year, three senior officials from the Beijing subway system have been officially reported to have been removed from their positions.
According to a report on June 6 by the Beijing Municipal Commission of Discipline Inspection and Supervision, Liu Jian, former member of the party committee and deputy general manager of Beijing Metro Operation Company, is suspected of serious violations of discipline and law and is currently under review and investigation.
On the evening of May 7, Yonggui Electronics announced that they had recently received a notice from the family of Liu Jian, an independent director of the fifth board of directors, stating that Liu Jian had been placed under investigation by relevant oversight agencies. At that time, Liu Jian had been serving as an independent director of Yonggui Electronics for just over a year.
Born in 1958, Liu Jian had a long career in the Beijing subway system. In February 1983, he served as the head of the technical department and deputy director of Beijing Metro Taipinghu Rolling Stock Company. Starting in January 2001, he gradually rose through the ranks to become the director of the vehicle department of Beijing Metro Operation Co., Ltd., the director of the renovation engineering office, assistant general manager, vice general engineer, and deputy general manager.
Since the end of March 2025, Xie Zhengguang, Zhan Minghui, and Liu Jian have been successively reported to have been removed from their positions. Xie Zhengguang served as the general manager of Beijing Metro Company in 2001 and later became the party secretary and chairman of Beijing Metro Operation Co., Ltd., as well as the director of the Beijing Municipal Transportation Committee. In January 2023, he transferred to the CPPCC to serve as the director of the Economic Committee of the Beijing Municipal Committee, until he was reported to have been removed from his position on March 27 of this year.
Zhan Minghui, former member of the party committee and deputy general manager of Beijing Infrastructure Investment Co., Ltd., was also reported to have been removed from his position on May 23. After graduating from university in 1983, Zhan Minghui joined Beijing Metro Corporation. He has held positions including deputy director and director of the general dispatch department of Beijing Metro Corporation, deputy general manager of Beijing Metro Operation Co., Ltd., deputy general manager of Beijing Infrastructure Investment Co., Ltd., director of the Beijing Rail Transit Control Center, chairman and general manager of Beijing Rail Transit Network Management Co., Ltd., among others.
