The deadline for registration for the Chinese School Association Summer Camp has been extended to the end of May.

The “2025 Chinese Culture + Little Anchor Summer Camp” organized by the Northern California Chinese School Association will take place from June 23rd to June 28th at the Southern Bay Overseas Chinese Educational Center. The registration deadline has been extended to May 31st, with limited spots available, so interested participants are encouraged to sign up promptly.

The summer camp is designed for students who will be entering grades 1 to 8 in September 2025. The curriculum will be grouped by age and conducted entirely in Chinese, with the assistance of bilingual teaching assistants (high school TAs) to ensure that even those without prior Chinese language proficiency can easily participate in the program.

This year’s summer camp will include a Saturday showcase for the first time, allowing parents to come and witness their children’s learning and growth over the course of the week. The camp fee is $549 (discounted for members), which covers daily nutritious lunches, two snacks, course materials, and a commemorative T-shirt to alleviate the burden on parents.

The camp activities will include:
1. Traditional Sports Activities: Dragon and lion dances, Diabolo spinning, shuttlecock kicking, combining culture and physical exercise for a fun-filled experience.
2. Traditional Dance: Taught by renowned dance instructor Peng Leyun from Feather in the Wind, providing an opportunity to experience traditional Chinese dance styles and spirit.
3. Opera and Traditional Arts: Classes taught by professional instructors to introduce students to the world of traditional Chinese opera and enhance their artistic literacy.
4. Handicraft Making: Engage in creating creative traditional crafts to develop focus and manual dexterity.
5. Chinese Snack Making: Learn to make classic snacks with culinary arts teachers and appreciate Chinese culinary culture.
6. Team Building Activities: Thoughtfully designed interactive games to cultivate teamwork and leadership skills.
7. Little Anchor Course: Personally instructed by veteran anchor Li Noya, training children in presentation skills and eloquence, culminating in a live presentation at the Saturday showcase.

Zhuang Yashu, Director of the Chinatown Bay Area Chinese Cultural and Educational Service Center, expressed that the annual children’s cultural summer camp organized by the Northern California Chinese School Association has been well-received by parents and children alike. The newly added Little Anchor Course effectively nurtures children’s expressive and verbal abilities, combining education with enjoyment to provide a fulfilling summer experience for children.

Chen Andong, the organizer of the summer camp, stated that the camp’s curriculum is taught by excellent faculty members and promises an exciting content. The camp adheres to reasonable fees, quality service, and is staffed with over 20 assistants, ensuring a ratio of approximately 1 assistant for every 2 to 3 students.

Many returning campers have eagerly signed up, praising the camp’s reputation. Families who have not yet planned their summer activities are encouraged to seize this opportunity and register.
