Taiwanese singer-songwriter Li Mingyang was invited to perform on Banda Island in Indonesia during the May 1st holiday. Upon arrival, he realized that he was the headliner among all the singers from China, Malaysia, and Indonesia. A total of 20,000 audience members attended the concert, leaving Li Mingyang pleasantly surprised. He performed 10 songs in a row, with his hit song “Chit Chit Lie” becoming a massive sing-along sensation among the audience in Southeast Asia.

During his performance on Banda Island in Indonesia, Li Mingyang was greeted by a warm welcome from 20,000 fans. Upon arriving at the venue, he was astonished to see that all 15,000 seats were filled, and the surrounding area was packed with people. The entire scene was a sea of heads, estimated to have a total of around 20,000 spectators.

Li Mingyang’s continuous string of successful works over the years led to a sensational debut performance in that region. Another contributing factor was his diligent promotion on Facebook fan page live streams during the pandemic, which unexpectedly sparked a craze for his new song “Chit Chit Lie” in Southeast Asia. The popularity of the song extended beyond the Chinese community, attracting Malay, Indonesian, and Indian fans who all joined the Li Mingyang popularity train, singing along to “Chit Chit Lie.”

During the encore that evening, Li Mingyang’s performance extended for over 10 minutes, and many fans brought homemade Malay layer cakes, counting up to an astonishing twenty. Even the Indonesian police officers responsible for security surrounded him, joining in on a rendition of “Chit Chit La.” It was an unprecedented scene of festivity. In addition to the layer cakes, a male fan rushed onto the stage to present his idol with an oversized red envelope. Upon opening it, Li Mingyang discovered an astounding 20 million Indonesian Rupiah inside, prompting him to exclaim in disbelief and refuse the gift.

Upon learning that the amount equated to around 40,000 Taiwanese dollars, he acknowledged the significant sum, accepting the red envelope with gratitude. Appreciating the fan’s enthusiasm, Li Mingyang warmly engaged in onstage selfie photo booth sessions with the devoted supporter, thanking him for his overwhelming generosity. Additionally, enthusiastic fans showered him with the local favorite, durian, a highly popular fruit in the region. Although Li Mingyang himself is not particularly fond of durian, his wife, Xia Xin, savored it so much that she indulged in the fragrant fruit for several consecutive days, repeatedly praising its deliciousness.
