On the eve of Mother’s Day, Wei Li-an held a concert in Kaohsiung on the night of the 11th, stepping into the Kaohsiung Arena for the first time. He happily expressed, “I’m very happy! Thank you all for choosing to come see me on Mother’s Day weekend!” Apart from performing his new song for the first time, he also shared the stage with his legendary “twin brother” Luo Shi-feng.
The entire performance had the theme of “One Day.” Following his performance at the Taipei Arena, Wei Li-an debuted two new sets of outfits and premiered the unreleased song “Mend” dedicated to Kaohsiung. When the prelude of the popular song “If Possible” played, unexpectedly, Wei Li-an started singing in Taiwanese dialect. This led to the appearance of the Golden Melody King, Luo Shi-feng, who joined in singing the Taiwanese version of “If Possible,” causing cheers throughout the venue.
However, as they reached the ending lyrics “You are the promise of the world I bet on,” the two got stuck on the phrase “You are,” playfully singing back and forth to each other, joking about their similar appearances and playfully competing for the stage, saying, “There can only be one Wei Li-an left on the stage,” which amused the audience.
They then performed a duet of the English song “Don’t Show It” mixed with the Hakka song “Sister Looks Beautiful,” and surprisingly, the combination of the two songs flowed seamlessly. However, the harmonization in this three-part harmony performance caused both of them to have tongue twisters.
Wei Li-an frankly said, “The Taiwanese version of ‘If Possible’ is even harder to sing than the Korean version!” He initially thought that having Taiwanese lyrics could make it easier to sing, but upon practice, he realized it was not the case. In the end, he had to seek help from the original singer of the Taiwanese version, Luo Shi-feng, asking him to send a performance video to capture the essence of the song. Luo Shi-feng also mentioned that Wei Li-an challenged him by making him sing an English song, forcing him to diligently practice looking at the English lyrics, saying, “Lost so many brain cells, luckily there are young kids at home to help!”
Both Wei Li-an and Luo Shi-feng, who are both Hakka people, released their albums almost simultaneously four years ago, leading fans to notice striking similarities from certain angles. Since then, they have developed a bond. At that time, Wei Li-an appeared on Luo Shi-feng’s YouTube show “Unorthodox YA,” and Luo Shi-feng expressed, “At that time, the show was still in the early stages, with only over 3,000 followers, he was willing to come on, and we’re still grateful for that until now.”
