The oldest and largest exhibition in North America is being held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Midtown Manhattan.
The exhibition features over 700 car models from numerous car manufacturers spanning across Europe, North America, and Asia. Subaru from Japan, Kia and Hyundai from South Korea have rented large exhibition booths, presenting a sensory feast combining visual and dynamic effects through large screens as backgrounds and live driving experiences.
Mark Schienberg, President of the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association, the organizer of the New York Auto Show, stated in his opening speech that since its first edition in 1900, the show has reflected innovation and technology in the presentation of gasoline, steam, and electric-powered vehicles of that time.
Despite being briefly interrupted by World War II and the COVID-19 pandemic, and facing pressure from tariffs and global supply chain uncertainties in various countries, this year’s New York Auto Show still demonstrates the resilience, determination, and innovative spirit of the automotive industry.
One of the highly anticipated opening programs of the auto show is the World Car Awards ceremony. The ceremony brings together car manufacturers, dealers, and hundreds of media from around the world, enhancing the international influence and media attention of the exhibition.
The “World Car Awards” for this year consist of six awards, namely World Car of the Year, World Luxury Car, World Performance Car, World Urban Car, World Electric Vehicle, and World Car Design of the Year.
Following Kia’s achievement in 2024 with the EV9 winning both the World Car of the Year and World Electric Vehicle awards, Kia has once again won the 2025 World Car of the Year with their new entry-level electric SUV, the EV3.
The Kia EV3 is a small electric SUV that combines stylish design and advanced technology, offering standard and long-range versions with a maximum range of 605 kilometers. It features a three-screen setup, head-up display (HUD), and intelligent driving assistance systems, emphasizing eco-friendliness and practicality. It is expected to be priced around $35,000 in the United States, targeting the entry-level electric vehicle market.
For the 2025 World Urban Car: BYD Seagull / Dolphin Mini
For the 2025 World Electric Vehicle: Hyundai Inster / Casper Electric
