Caring for the Elderly: Taiwan-US Relief Association Distributes Supplies on the 31st

In view of the Asia-Pacific Heritage Month and Mother’s Day in May, the Southern California Taiwanese American Emergency Relief Association (SCTAEAA) has launched a special event called “Caring for the Elderly in the Community, Sharing Resources.” The event will take place at the Los Angeles Overseas Compatriot Center from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on May 31.

On May 7, SCTAEAA announced at the Los Angeles Overseas Compatriot Center that they will combine overseas community manpower and resources to distribute supplies to seniors aged 70 and above who are in need. In order to facilitate the orderly distribution of supplies, registration with real names is required to receive them, with each household eligible for only one package. Residents are encouraged to register in advance with their respective community organizations and fill out the “Elderly Supplies Collection Data Form” by May 24. Limited to 200 packages, available while supplies last. For inquiries, please contact the event coordinator Xu Guanling (626-375-8788) or the Executive Director of the event, Zhao Shanyi (323-816-9636). You can also email [email protected] for more information.

This initiative aims to provide support and care to the elderly in the community, especially during the month of May, which holds special significance for tradition and family celebrations. By pooling resources and coordinating efforts within the overseas Taiwanese community in South California, SCTAEAA is demonstrating solidarity and compassion towards the vulnerable elderly population.

Such community events not only offer practical assistance in the form of essential supplies but also foster a sense of unity and camaraderie among community members. The spirit of giving and sharing exemplified by this initiative reflects the values of compassion and social responsibility that are deeply ingrained in the Taiwanese American community.

As we approach the event date of May 31, let us join hands in supporting the elderly members of our community and spreading warmth and kindness during these challenging times. Your participation and contributions will undoubtedly make a difference in the lives of those in need. Together, we can make a meaningful impact and show the true spirit of community support and solidarity.
