On the eve of the Chinese New Year, which falls on January 29th in 2025, dignitaries in the Philadelphia area extend their warm wishes to readers of the Epoch Times and viewers of NTD for a Happy New Year!
Philadelphia City Councilman Mark Squilla, representing the 1st District:
“I wish everyone a Happy New Year on behalf of the 1st District of Philadelphia! This year marks the Year of the Snake in the Chinese calendar, also known as the Little Dragon year. Celebrating the cultural traditions of our Chinese community is very important. Representing Chinatown, which is an integral part of our Philadelphia culture, we hope not only residents of Chinatown and the Chinese community can celebrate, but the whole city of Philadelphia can partake in this great Chinese New Year tradition. Chinatown is a vibrant community in my district, and I love celebrating this festival. Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!”
Pennsylvania State Representative Mary Isaacson:
“I am delighted to represent my district in Philadelphia, which includes the historic Chinatown, and wish everyone a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year!” She advises everyone to embrace adaptability and change in the new year.
Representative Isaacson praises the delicious cuisine of Chinatown, especially the Beijing roast duck: “Chinatown offers a wide variety of options. Whether you fancy dumplings, soup, or traditional dishes, there are many fantastic eateries to choose from. Personally, I am a big fan of Chinese cuisine. Chinatown boasts many wonderful places to visit, with some of the best restaurants offering a selection of dishes. My personal favorite is Beijing roast duck, where you can buy a half or whole duck that is delicious and fresh, enough to make you lick your fingers!”
Representative Isaacson vows to provide adequate services for immigrants in 2025: “Ensuring that everyone in our community has access to food and healthcare, addressing language barriers for effective communication… ensuring we do not allow any discrimination or ensuing fear to spread in our city— the birthplace of America.”
Pennsylvania State Representative Regina Young:
“Wishing everyone a Happy Chinese New Year! I am very excited, and I urge you to embrace Chinese culture, Chinese cuisine, Chinese dances. Everything is wonderful. Let us celebrate the Chinese New Year together with our Chinese brothers and sisters. Wishing everyone a Happy Chinese New Year!” Regina Young represents the 185th District, including parts of Philadelphia and Delaware County.
