Huawei’s High-End Smartphones Receive Significant Price Cuts, Up to 21% Off

Recently, Huawei has suddenly reduced the prices of several high-end smartphones, with the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra receiving the highest discount of 2000 yuan (RMB), a 21% decrease, while the Huawei Mate X5 foldable screen phone has been directly reduced by 2500 yuan, sparking discussions online.

At the flagship Huawei store on December 29th, reporters from the “China Securities Journal” found that several high-end Huawei phones have been discounted recently, including the Pura 70 series and Mate X5, triggering promotional discounts. The Pura 70 series is a high-end flagship phone launched by Huawei in April of this year.

On the online Huawei store, the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra is offered with a maximum discount of 2000 yuan, with a discounted price starting at 7499 yuan, a reduction of 21%; the Pura 70 Pro+ is discounted by 1300 yuan, with a discounted price starting at 6699 yuan, a decrease of 16%; the Pura 70 Pro is discounted by 1100 yuan, with a discounted price starting at 5399 yuan, a reduction of nearly 17%; the Pura 70 is offered with an 800 yuan discount, with a post-discount price starting at 4699 yuan, reduced by up to 14.5%; and the price of the Mate X5 has been directly reduced by 2500 yuan to a starting price of 10499 yuan, a decrease of 19%.

The news of Huawei’s sudden price reduction on smartphones has stirred up discussions online.

Netizens commented: “The mobile phone market is too volatile, with fast update frequencies. Once a new model is released, the prices of older models have to be adjusted accordingly.” “Generally speaking, there is a certain psychological expectation for price reductions within 3-6 months after the release of a new phone. If the price reduction is reasonable and the phone’s performance still meets consumer demand, then it is acceptable. However, too rapid or significant price reductions may lead to disappointment in the brand!”

“The sudden price reduction of Huawei’s high-end smartphones is mainly due to three reasons. 1. Stimulate consumer desire to purchase, and increase Huawei’s market share! 2. Clearing inventory – possibly overproduction at high prices resulting in low sales, without reducing prices, the excess stock becomes obsolete. 3. New products are about to be launched, if the new ones are coming in, the old ones need to lower prices to sell. However, the price reduction is indeed too significant and may have a considerable impact on the second-hand market.”
