Lions Club Sunday Luoqiao Concert Raises Funds for Hualien Disaster Relief

To support the earthquake victims in Hualien, Taiwan, the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) will host a charity concert titled “Music Changes the World” on Sunday, May 5th at the Overseas Chinese Cultural and Educational Center in Los Angeles. During a press conference at the Overseas Chinese Center on April 30th, key members of the Lions Clubs International District 4L2, including District Governor Scarlett Ku, First Vice District Governor Kaiser Mok, and Second Vice District Governor Angel Pei, attended to provide details. The “Music Changes the World” initiative aims to soothe the hearts of those affected by the disaster with music and compassion, assisting them in healing and rebuilding their homes. The International President of Lions Clubs International also delivered a speech through a video, emphasizing the active participation of Lions Club members globally and their contributions to society, encouraging more charitable actions and social services.

The concert boasts an impressive lineup of guest performers, such as well-known emcee and host in the Southern California community, Zai Ling Luo, Huiyi Lin, Jeff Locker, Lauren Allen, April Nelson, former Miss Indiana who traveled all the way to perform, the bilingual film and music star Yunfeng Qiu and Yanqiu Liu leading the JG Dance Group, the Blue Brothers & Sisters choir from Las Vegas, Lei Xiaonan presenting the Blue Moon belly dance, champion of regional competitions Vietnamese singer Rui Feng, and the renowned Chinese vocalist Ye Feng.

The event has received support from various sponsors, including local Lions Club chapters and businesses such as California Market, New Taiwan Food, and Ruby Cafe, contributing a total of approximately $70,000 towards the Hualien earthquake relief efforts.

Scarlett Ku is the first female Chinese District Governor in the 85-year history of Lions Clubs International. Embracing the mission of “We Serve,” she has devoted herself to charitable organizations such as the American Cancer Society for 23 years, participating in various charity activities related to youth and children’s cancer, visual impairment, hunger, environmental protection, diabetes, and disaster relief. Zai Ling Luo, the lead singer of this concert, has previously won prestigious awards like the Taiwan TV Five-Lamp Award and the University Joint Singing Competition, earning a stellar reputation in the music industry with English hit songs. Together, they join forces with the belief of “serving society, finding joy in doing good,” to script a new chapter in the charity work of the new century.
