Recently, a video of “rats running rampant” in the school cafeteria of Beida Primary School in Haikou has been circulating on the internet, sparking widespread concern.
The video shows four rats running around what appears to be the cafeteria floor. According to the person who posted the video, this was in the disinfection area of the Beida Primary School cafeteria. Despite extensive extermination efforts, four rats can still be seen. However, it was reported that there were actually many more rats present.
According to a report by “Bang Video,” incidents of rats running rampant in the Haikou cafeteria of Beida Primary School have occurred multiple times. The school had previously conducted food safety inspections and publicly shared cafeteria surveillance footage with parents. However, on December 20, some parents saw rats still running around in the cafeteria on the surveillance footage, on the floor and even on the table surfaces.
The hygiene issues in the cafeteria of Beida Primary School in Haikou have garnered attention online. In response, the Xiuying Sub-Bureau of Haikou Market Supervision and Administration and the Xiuying District Education Bureau of Haikou issued a notice on December 24, stating that they have issued a rectification notice to the school involved. Currently, the school cafeteria has ceased food service and is undergoing disinfection as required. Meal service will resume once the rectification meets the standards.
Following the suspected rat incident, parents started to bring meals to the school. Footage shows students and parents gathering in the school’s corridor, eating together.
Public information indicates that Beida Primary School Haikou was established in 2016 and officially began classes in September 2018. The school’s management team is entirely from the main campus of Beida Primary School affiliated with Peking University. The tuition fee is 25,000 yuan per semester.
