Former CCTV Female Anchor Reveals All Uterus Removed, Gaining Attention

On November 27th, Yao Miao, a former CCTV host, posted a video on her personal social media account announcing that she had successfully undergone laparoscopic minimally invasive total hysterectomy surgery. She mentioned experiencing issues with her gynecological health in the past two years, sparking concerns.

Yao Miao stated in the video that she had just completed the laparoscopic total hysterectomy surgery smoothly. She revealed that she had been facing gynecological health issues frequently in the past two years. After consulting with doctors, she was advised to opt for a total hysterectomy since she did not have the need for fertility, while still preserving her ovaries.

She emphasized that surgery is not a suitable choice for everyone and stressed the importance of making decisions based on personal health conditions and after thorough communication with healthcare professionals. She also promised to continue updating everyone on her recovery progress.

According to reports from various news outlets, the scope of a total hysterectomy typically includes removing the uterus body, cervix, and bilateral fallopian tubes. Reasons for undergoing this procedure may include organic lesions in the uterus or other reproductive system disorders, as well as systemic factors.

Many patients worry that after removing the uterus, they may lose estrogen, causing concerns about the impact on their health. However, since a small part of the blood supply to the ovaries comes from the uterus, the function of the ovaries may decline slightly after hysterectomy.

Yao Miao, originally named Guan Yao Miao, is a mainland Chinese actress and former CCTV host, born in Beijing in 1978. She began her career in acting at a young age, starring in films and television dramas. Later, she ventured into hosting various programs on different channels before eventually transitioning into self-media activities after leaving CCTV-6 in 2022.

As a prominent mouthpiece for the Chinese Communist Party, CCTV’s news and events often draw significant public attention and scrutiny. Recent reports have highlighted the sudden passing of former CCTV hosts and journalists due to various health conditions, sparking discussions among netizens.

Despite the strong support from the Communist Party, CCTV has been experiencing a decline in viewership over the years. Reports suggest that the opening rates of smart TVs in China have significantly decreased since 2016, dropping from 70% to less than 30% by 2022.

Additionally, in terms of viewership ratings, data from CSM National Web showed that in August 2023, the average viewership rating of CCTV’s “Xinwen Lianbo” (News Broadcast) program plummeted to a historic low of 2.3%.

Analyses from media outlets suggest that behind the declining viewership of “Xinwen Lianbo” lies the discrepancy between its content, portraying a rosy picture of the economy and job market, and the harsh realities faced by the public such as unemployment, low incomes, high medical expenses, and rising education costs. This mismatch between the program’s content and people’s lived experiences has led to distrust and dissatisfaction, raising doubts about the authenticity and fairness of the broadcast.
