EVA Air Upgrades In-flight Service, Collaborates with Brands to Create New Gourmet Experience

China Airlines (CAL) has once again been awarded the title of Five Star Global Airline by APEX this year, sweeping the Best in Food and Beverage as well as the Best In Wi-Fi awards. The airline was also named the “Best Airline in North Asia” by the travel magazine “Global Traveler” for its outstanding performance in service, comfort, and design.

Looking ahead to 2025, Calvin Cheng, Regional Director of CAL in the Americas, anticipates the arrival of a brand new 787 fleet with luxurious business class, premium economy class, and flagship economy class products. The cabins will feature large windows, providing passengers with a broader view and the ability to adjust humidity and air pressure, enhancing passenger comfort while striving towards the goal of “net zero carbon emissions”.

Collaborating with Taiwan’s only Michelin three-star restaurant, “Ya Ge,” CAL has invited Michelin chef Chen Wei-Qiang to design a menu featuring “home-cooked dishes” served onboard at 30,000 feet, allowing passengers to enjoy Michelin-starred cuisine in the sky. Vegetarian meals will be curated by Michelin Green Star vegetarian restaurant “Yangming Spring”, using natural local ingredients to offer passengers a pure and healthy dining experience.

Cheng mentioned that to reduce carbon emissions and plastic waste, CAL will phase in 100% eco-friendly recycled stainless steel cutlery in the economy class of all routes, aligning with ESG sustainable development goals while allowing passengers to enjoy delicious meals and contribute to protecting the planet.

CAL has also partnered with the renowned Taiwanese bubble tea brand “Wu Tong Hao” to introduce new co-branded desserts and beverages onboard. According to Jason Chang, Marketing Manager of CAL in the Americas, products from this collaboration include Japanese-style desserts featuring the character “CHIIKAWA”. Long-haul flights in premium economy class will offer Breton sable, while economy class will feature matcha red bean dorayaki. Flights from Taoyuan to Japan in economy class will also provide matcha dacquoise, as well as bubble tea and snow biscuits based on Taiwan’s characteristic teas, offering passengers a richer taste experience during their journey.

In terms of in-flight entertainment systems, CAL has upgraded the ear-cup headphones in luxury business class and business class with advanced active noise-canceling technology, allowing passengers to enjoy clearer sound. The brand new headphones are available on CAL’s 777, A350, A321neo, and A330 fleets, offering passengers an unparalleled relaxation experience while flying.

Laura Lin, Deputy Marketing Manager in the Americas, mentioned that apart from the enhancements in food and beverage, CAL has also collaborated with the luxury fashion brand MOSCHINO to introduce new onboard travel kits for luxury business class passengers, combining stylish design with practical functionality, and selecting high-end care products to meet the needs of different cabin classes; the premium economy class has also partnered with the Canadian leisure brand Roots, launching travel kits inspired by log cabins, with warm red, white, and grey colors creating a cozy home-like atmosphere.
