14-year-old girl in Zhengzhou dies from abuse at “Intensive Training School”

On November 24, 2024, in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, a 14-year-old girl was sent by her parents to a closed “training school” but tragically died after only 5 months due to abuse. This news made headlines on Baidu’s Hot Search on November 24, sparking outrage among netizens.

According to various mainland Chinese media reports, Mr. Wang from Zhengzhou sent his daughter Wang Lin (pseudonym) to a closed “training school” called Kezheng Education located over 300 kilometers away from their home.

Mr. Wang revealed to Pengpai News that his daughter, 14 years old, had school refusal issues and had been out of school for nearly a year. In order to let her learn traditional Chinese culture and receive psychological counseling, he found a quality education school called “Henan Kezheng Extension Services Co., Ltd.” online.

On June 27, he entrusted his daughter to the teachers at this school, and she was taken to the campus located in Langchengang, Zhongmou County, Henan for a two-month closed training session.

On August 26, Mr. Wang received a call about his child’s accident. The school informed him that his daughter had a sudden accident, had seizures, felt weak all over, and had been rushed to the emergency room of Kaifeng Central Hospital. The next day, Mr. Wang and his wife hurried to the hospital from Beijing.

Mr. Wang said, “To see so many bruises on my child’s arms and body, it was really distressing.” He felt that something was wrong, inquired the teachers about the situation but received no response. He then reported the incident to the local police station, Langchengang Police Station.

As Wang Lin’s condition worsened, she was transferred from Henan Zhengzhou 988 Hospital to Zhengzhou University First Affiliated Hospital Neuro-ICU on September 11, in a deep coma state. An official report from Zhengzhou University First Affiliated Hospital on September 18 stated Wang Lin had a fainting episode on August 26 accompanied by limb weakness, unsteady standing, followed by restlessness, tongue-biting, delirium, dull eyes on September 3; decreased consciousness, loss of autonomous breathing on September 4… on September 11, she entered ICU, in a deep coma, limbs powerless, having dropped 20 kilograms in weight in the past two months.

On the morning of September 27, Wang Lin’s family informed Pengpai News that despite rescue efforts, the child passed away on the evening of the 26th.

Wang Lin’s death notification listed 18 diagnoses including deep coma, brain stem dysfunction, sudden cardiac and respiratory arrest, respiratory failure, severe diffuse cerebral disease, severe peripheral nerve disease, shock, arrhythmia, lung infection, fungal infection, liver dysfunction, hyperlipidemia, anemia, abnormal coagulation function, electrolyte disturbance, gastrointestinal bleeding, reduced platelets, and soft tissue damage to the lower back.

Mr. Wang posted on social media about the school staff’s abuse towards the students. Soon, he received private messages from other students in the same batch as his daughter, detailing some of Wang Lin’s experiences at the school.

A recorded conversation provided by Wang, involving a student from the same batch as his daughter, mentioned, “When Wang Lin couldn’t run, she was dragged by people under teacher’s orders, dragged on the ground… and not given food,” “The teacher tied Wang Lin’s hair to a pillar and didn’t allow her to sleep.”

In the recording, the student also mentioned that during training, teachers would use iron rods to beat people, make them strip down leaving only undergarments to crawl on the ground and afterwards force them to write voluntary commitment letters.

Wang also told Pengpai News that the school intercepted three letters of distress from his daughter. He mentioned instances of teachers spraying pepper water in his daughter’s eyes, pricking with needles, burning the body with cigarette butts, and exposing in the scorching sun. However, prior to the incident, the school always assured him that the child was doing fine.

Previously, news surfaced about the corporal punishment of students in such “training schools.”

A report by Red Star News stated that Mr. Ma mentioned his son had participated in the “Kezheng Quality Enrichment Camp” on June 16. Afterward, his son told him about the presence of corporal punishment at the camp, where instructors would make a few students surround one person and beat them, without mentioning any acts of molestation. After returning home, Mr. Ma’s son reported to the police by himself. He told the police that he had been molested in the camp, and he was not the only victim. On August 6, Mr. Ma returned to Zhengzhou and reported to the Langgangzhen Police Station on August 7.

Currently, Henan Kezheng Extension Services Co., Ltd. has been shut down. Similar incidents of child abuse in such training camps are not uncommon in mainland China.

Legal professionals and longtime practitioners in China, “Wood Studying Law,” disclosed on November 24 that in March this year, a mother named Chen Yun from Anyuan County, Jiangxi, also sent her daughter Jiang Rui, who suffered from severe depression, to a similar training camp. The head of the training camp, Wang, claimed to be able to help children through physical training and gratitude education.

During the training camp from July 11 to 15, Jiang Rui was repeatedly abused by Wang, forced to take contraceptive pills. Despite seeking help from a life teacher, no assistance was provided to Jiang Rui.

Upon learning the truth on August 2, Chen Yun immediately reported to the police, leading to Wang’s criminal detention by the authorities.

On August 5, 14-year-old Jiang Rui tragically died by jumping off a building at home.

Following the disclosure of these incidents, it has sparked anger among mainland netizens. Some netizens expressed that these “training schools” are like hell on earth! The so-called instructors are not qualified to educate children; instead, they are only inflicting harm on them! These criminals should be severely punished!

Some netizens believe that these training camps, under the guise of education, are actually damaging the physical and mental health of children.

A netizen commented, “The school being able to commit such acts clearly indicates a problem with supervision, which needs thorough investigation! Schools should be places of education, not violence, so parents must be vigilant and avoid sending children to such institutions.”

Another netizen stated, “In such situations, I am more inclined to condemn those parents; those parents are demons.”

According to Tianyancha, Henan Kezheng Extension Services Co., Ltd. was established in 2021, engaging in experiential expansion activities, planning, sports competition organization, sports security organization, educational consulting services (excluding educational training activities requiring approval), among other business scopes.
