According to reports from foreign media, director Jenkins was inspired to cast Blue Ivy after hearing her share the story of the animated short film “Hair Love” and discussing it with her mother, Beyoncé. Initially hesitant about the idea, Jenkins wondered if it was worth a try and if both Beyoncé and Blue Ivy would be willing to act together. However, they both enthusiastically welcomed the opportunity.

In an interview on “Good Morning America,” Jenkins expressed how special it was to work with Beyoncé and her daughter. He commended Blue Ivy’s professionalism during the recording sessions, stating that both mother and daughter were equally dedicated to giving their best performances. He noted their natural chemistry as a real-life mother-daughter duo.

Initially reluctant to direct the movie, Jenkins revealed that he had reservations about taking on a musical project, not wanting music to overshadow the storytelling. It was American composer and lyricist Lin-Manuel Miranda who ultimately helped him find the balance between music and narrative.

Jenkins emphasized the importance of synergizing music and film, crediting Lin-Manuel Miranda for delving into character backgrounds with the scriptwriter Jeff Nathanson, enabling the music to enhance the storytelling. The collaboration with Miranda was seamless and fruitful.

The story of “Mufasa: The Lion King” begins as Rafiki recounts the legendary tale of Mufasa to Kiara, with Timon and Pumbaa providing comedic and insightful commentary. The narrative unfolds in a retrospective manner.

Mufasa, once a lonely orphan lion, found solace and purpose when he crossed paths with the warm-blooded royal heir, Taka, igniting an extraordinary journey. Along the way, he encounters a disparate group of companions, whose unlikely alliance is tested by deadly threats, challenging the strength of their bond.

The star-studded voice cast for this film includes Alan Pierre as Mufasa, young Scar played by Kelvin Harrison Jr., Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon, John Kani as Rafiki, Thandiwe Newton as Sarabi, and more.
