13 People Sent to Hospital After Private Car Crashes into Morning Market in Shenyang

On November 4th, a private car crashed into the morning market along Xiaoheyan in Shenyang’s Shenhe District, sending 13 people to the hospital.

A viral video shows a white car hitting the roadside stalls at the morning market diagonally, causing multiple people to fall to the ground.

A business owner at the Xiaoheyan morning market told Upstream News that the incident occurred around 8:30 in the morning when there was a large crowd at the market. During the morning market operating hours, motor vehicles are prohibited from passing through, with no-entry signs at the entrance. “We were all selling our goods. We only realized it was a hit-and-run when we heard the noise. The car stopped in front of the visitor service center’s steps.” The driver involved has been restrained.

According to Da Wan News, another shop owner at the Xiaoheyan morning market mentioned that she was inside her shop when she heard the sound and rushed out to see that the accident had already happened. “The car had crashed, and the victims were the vegetable vendors at the stalls.”

According to the traffic police department of the Shenyang Public Security Bureau, on November 4th at 8:18 am, a 27-year-old man named Li drove a small car to Wanquan Street Market in Shenhe District. Due to improper operation, Li caused a traffic accident and was immediately apprehended. The accident resulted in 13 people being sent to the hospital for treatment, with none in critical condition. Li has been cleared of suspicion of drunk or drugged driving, and the investigation into the accident is ongoing.
