A tragic incident unfolded on the evening of the 22nd during what was supposed to be a joyous journey aboard the “Taylor Swift-themed cruise”. A cruise ship, loaded with fans of the American pop music star Taylor Swift, departed from the port of Miami on the 21st, only for a 66-year-old woman to fall overboard on the night of the 22nd.
According to a report by the US media CBS on the 25th, the cruise ship named “The Allure of the Seas” from Royal Caribbean had already returned to the port of Miami from the itinerary of the “Taylor Swift-themed cruise”.
Prior to this, on the 23rd, the Royal Bahamian Defense Force announced that the search and rescue operation for the passenger who fell overboard had ended, confirming that the cruise ship was sailing between Florida and the Bahamas when the tragedy occurred approximately 17 miles north of Nassau, Bahamas.
The cruise departed from the port of Miami on the 21st, heading to the Bahamas for a five-day voyage. However, at 9:40 pm on the 22nd, a 66-year-old woman fell overboard from the 14th floor of the cruise ship. Local coast guards immediately launched a search and rescue operation, utilizing helicopters and airplanes to trace the woman’s whereabouts. However, a full day of search and rescue efforts yielded no results, and the cruise company has yet to disclose the reason behind the woman falling overboard.
Bradly Sriro, a passenger on the cruise ship, described the search as a “collective effort by everyone”, with the ship and aircraft conducting the search in the dark waters of the night.
The “Taylor Swift-themed cruise” event was primarily a celebration of Taylor Swift’s musical accomplishments, attracting numerous ‘Swifties’ fans to participate, unknowingly overshadowed by the tragic incident involving the woman overboard.
Focusing on celebrity business and wealth reporting, Forbes announced on October 7th that Taylor Swift had become the world’s richest female singer. The report stated that Taylor Swift currently has a net worth of $1.6 billion, with a significant portion of her income coming from last year’s global concert tour, The Eras Tour, generating up to $600 million in merchandise rights and ticket sales, an additional $600 million from music rights, and $125 million from real estate investments.
Authorities have revealed that it is unclear whether the missing woman was a member of the “Taylor Swift fans group”, but Taylor Swift herself did not participate in this event. Royal Caribbean stated that the crew took immediate action and cooperated with local authorities to conduct the rescue operation, while also providing support to the family of the missing person.
