The American Society of Chinese Engineers in San Francisco Holds Annual Conference

On April 27th, the 45th annual conference of the Chinese Institute of Engineers in America (CIE) San Francisco Chapter was held at the Santa Clara Convention Center with the theme “Rethinking Boundaries: AI and Creativity”. Approximately 300 leading technology experts, scholars, and industry professionals attended the event.

The afternoon session began with a keynote speech by Dr. Triston Cao, Senior Software Engineering Manager at NVIDIA, on the topic of “A Personal Reflection from the Perspective of Deep Learning Frameworks”. Dr. Cao shared insights into his career transition towards AI and analyzed the overall trends in AI machine learning.

During the panel discussion, Haohong Wang, General Manager of TCL USA Research Institute, Chen Bo, CEO/Founder of Aiwave, Rebecca Ye, CEO/Co-founder of Kyros.ai, and Alex Yang, CEO/Founder of Brix Labs, discussed the significant role of AI in various industries, as well as its risks and preventive measures.

Rebecca Ye, CEO/Co-founder of Kyros.ai, mentioned in an interview that an increasing number of engineers are considering entrepreneurship and investment, creating a larger ecosystem. CIE plays a crucial role in advancing the industry as a whole. She also highlighted that her second startup company focuses on providing more services for education using AI technology.

Jiang Xianbin, the producer of the 2024 Oscar-nominated documentary “Island in Between”, spoke on the topic of “Integrating Humanities and Technology in Storytelling”. He shared his journey of transitioning from technology entrepreneurship to documentary production and how he uses AI to blend humanities and technology for better storytelling.

Frank Lai, Senior Director of Business Development at Supermicro, discussed the challenges and obstacles facing the sustainable development of AI data centers in his presentation on the “Future Trends of AI Servers”.

Erik Manuevo, Vice President of Chegg Inc., talked about how AI empowers the education industry in his presentation on “Advancements in Artificial Intelligence”.

Elisa Paik, Customer Education Manager at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, explored how AI influences the daily lives of high school students and parents in the closing session of the seminar.

The annual conference concluded successfully, with outgoing President Weng Libo stepping down and the new President Li Yanshu taking over the position.
