G7 Defense Ministers Concerned About Chinese Military Exercises, Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Continuing to Defend Regional Peace

In response to the joint statement from the Group of Seven (G7) defense ministers expressing concerns about recent joint military exercises conducted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in the vicinity of Taiwan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) has stated that it will continue to enhance cooperation with G7 member countries to strive for regional and international prosperity and stability.

The G7 defense ministers issued a joint statement on the 19th, expressing concerns about the military exercises by the CCP near Taiwan, reiterating that peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait are essential for the security and prosperity of the international community, and urging the peaceful resolution of cross-strait issues.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China stated that the G7 defense ministers meeting took place from the 18th to the 20th in Naples, Italy, and released a joint statement on the 19th addressing the provocative behavior of the Chinese military conducting exercises around Taiwan. It emphasized the indispensable nature of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait for the security and prosperity of the international community, calling for the peaceful resolution of cross-strait issues. The ministry expressed a warm welcome and sincere gratitude for the steadfast support of G7 member countries for peace in the Taiwan Strait.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China mentioned that Taiwan, as a responsible member of the Indo-Pacific region, will continue to strengthen cooperation with G7 member countries to safeguard universal values such as democracy, freedom, human rights, and the rule of law through concrete actions. It aims to unite with like-minded partners to defend the rules-based international order and work jointly for the prosperity and stability of the regional and international community.
