Hunan teacher causes accident at school by driving on campus, 1 elementary student killed and 2 injured

Recently, a tragic incident occurred in the Xuefeng Town Central School in Hongjiang City, Huaihua, Hunan Province. A teacher driving a private car on the school premises got into an accident, resulting in three students being trapped under the car. Unfortunately, one student lost their life, while two others sustained injuries. The incident sparked widespread attention online.

On October 13, a netizen with the screen name “Villager” posted a video alleging that on October 12, a teacher in Xuefeng Town, Hongjiang City, accidentally hit his own daughter and injured two other students while driving his car inside the school campus.

The distraught netizen questioned why private cars were allowed on the premises, expressing shock and grief over the tragic incident that took the lives of three children, including his 7-year-old daughter. He emotionally shared that his daughter was raised single-handedly by him and his aging parents, who were devastated by the tragedy, with his mother’s hair turning white overnight.

In the video, the netizen demanded justice from Xuefeng Town Elementary School, pleading for the return of his daughter.

On October 14, the authorities in Hunan province’s Hongjiang City reported that on October 12 at around 10 a.m., a 39-year-old male teacher named Tan, working at Xuefeng Town Central School, was driving a small family car on the school premises to transport materials for the school’s sports day preparations. The accident resulted in the death of one student and injuries to two others. Tan was subsequently placed under criminal detention.

The incident quickly became a trending topic on Weibo as netizens expressed shock and sorrow over the tragic event, with many pointing out similarities to previous incidents and calling for stricter regulations on school premises to prevent such tragedies from occurring again.

Netizens urged the Education Bureau to take action, highlighting concerns about the unrestricted access of private vehicles on school grounds, which caused anxiety and fear among parents. Calls were made for the immediate establishment of designated parking areas at schools to ensure the safety of students and prevent similar accidents in the future.

Criticism was also directed towards the small size of the school and the inappropriate use of vehicles on the premises, with demands for better traffic management and safety measures to be implemented promptly. Actions were deemed necessary to prevent such devastating incidents and protect the school community.
