Zelensky: Receives Briefing on North Korea’s Involvement in Ukraine War

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Monday (October 14) that he has been briefed on the issue of North Korea’s involvement in the Ukrainian conflict and Russia’s plans for the autumn and winter this year.

According to reports by Reuters, Ukraine claims that North Korea is a new ally of Russia, with their relationship rapidly developing. North Korea is said to have provided ballistic missiles and ammunition to Russia, which have been used by Russian forces in the Ukrainian conflict.

In a national address on Monday evening, Zelenskiy provided the latest update on the cooperation between Russia and North Korea. He mentioned that he had earlier met with senior Ukrainian officials and received relevant reports.

“The most important of which is the report from the intelligence department… about the Russian plans for the autumn and winter. Each report has been explained in detail. The actual involvement of North Korea in this war,” Zelenskiy said in his speech.

Zelenskiy did not provide further information. The day before, he also mentioned that North Korea had deployed personnel to assist the Russian armed forces, but did not go into detail.

Reuters was unable to independently verify this claim.

South Korean Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun stated last week that North Korea was “highly likely” to deploy troops to assist Russia, but the Kremlin refuted this as “fake news.”
