Mainland Trafficker Yu Huaying Sold 17 Children, Even His Own

This morning at 10:00, the retrial of the child trafficking case involving Yu Huaying was held in the Intermediate People’s Court of Guiyang City, Guizhou Province. The number of children involved in Yu Huaying’s child trafficking case has increased from 11 to 17, with her first victim being her own son.

Yu Huaying, 61 years old, was born in Yunnan. When she was in her twenties, she met Gong Xianliang while working outside. During their cohabitation, Yu Huaying gave birth to a boy. Due to financial difficulties, she sold her own flesh and blood to Hebei through a middleman for 5000 yuan, thus starting her illegal business of child trafficking.

According to CCTV reports, from 1993 to 2003, Yu Huaying, Gong Xianliang, and others traveled to Guizhou, Yunnan, Chongqing, and other places to abduct children.

In 2000, Yu Huaying was arrested for child trafficking and detained for two months by the Handan Public Security Bureau before being released.

In 2004, she was caught committing the crime again in Yunnan. She and her husband concealed their identities and were sentenced to eight years in prison under false identities, with a three-year reduction in sentence. She was released in 2009 upon completing her sentence.

In 2021, Yang Niuhua, a victim of her trafficking, reunited with her sister through online search based on childhood memories. She convinced middlemen to provide clues and in 2022, she provided information to the Guizhou police, leading to Yu Huaying’s capture.

Yang Niuhua stated that after finding her sister, she learned that their biological parents had passed away due to losing her and her sister became an orphan at the age of 11. “I cannot let her (Yu Huaying) get away with it. This is not just my own matter.”

In July 2023, the trial of Yu Huaying’s child trafficking case was heard in the Guiyang City Intermediate Court. When it was Yang Niuhua’s turn to speak, she suddenly knelt down and tearfully pleaded with the court for a severe punishment for Yu Huaying. The court announced a date for the verdict.

On September 18, 2023, Yu Huaying was sentenced to death in the first trial for child trafficking. She appealed. After the second trial on November 28, 2023, it was discovered that Yu Huaying was also suspected of trafficking six other children in Yunnan, leading to a retrial of the case.

On October 11, 2024, the child trafficking case of Yu Huaying was retried, with the number of children she abducted increasing from 11 to 17. These 17 children come from 12 families, with Yu Huaying taking two children from five families at once, and some children being abandoned by her midway.

Wang Yanlong and Wang Nengneng, two brothers from Anshun City, Guizhou, were trafficked by Yu Huaying to Handan, Hebei in 1994. Their mother, Zhang Rongxian, attended the trial as a victim’s family member.

Zhang Rongxian told reporters, “Yu Huaying was sentenced to death in the first trial last year, and now that more abducted children have been discovered, it’s even more deserving of the death penalty.” She further expressed, “She has caused harm to so many families like ours, and we can never forgive her even if she died a hundred times.”
