Flying Stone Smashes Through Glass, Fatally Strikes Driver – Three Similar Incidents in California

A woman in California was tragically killed in a car accident after a stone pierced through the windshield and struck her, causing the vehicle to lose control and crash. According to authorities, this incident marks the third in a series of incidents involving stones being thrown at cars in the state in recent days.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated in a press release on Tuesday that the incident occurred after midnight on Tuesday, east of Highway 18 in Antelope Valley on Highway 138. The CHP responded to this “tragic traffic accident” at 12:10 a.m.

Despite efforts from emergency personnel, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, identified as Sarina Rodriguez, a 25-year-old beautician, was accompanied by her boyfriend, Franco Martinez, at the time of the incident. Martinez recounted to authorities that they were traveling west on Highway 138 when a stone suddenly came through the windshield, striking Rodriguez.

According to FOX11, Martinez described the stone hitting Rodriguez’s airway, completely disfiguring her face. He was sitting in the passenger seat, trying to grab the steering wheel to regain control of the vehicle, but time ran out. The vehicle crashed, resulting in Sarina’s immediate death.

ABC News reported that the CHP officers and Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel conducted a thorough search of the surrounding area but were unable to locate any suspects.

The CHP mentioned that this is the third similar incident under investigation. Two other incidents occurred on the evening of October 6, with one resulting in a broken bone and the other causing only minor injuries.

In response to these recurring incidents, the CHP’s Southern Division Major Accident Investigation Team and the Antelope Valley CHP division are actively investigating these events and seeking assistance from the community.

Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the California Highway Patrol.
