Israel Under Attack One Year Later, Donald Trump and Jacinda Ardern Deliver Speeches

One year after the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel, the fires of conflict in the Middle East are still burning. Vice President Harris and Republican presidential candidate Trump will each deliver speeches today on Monday, October 7th. With less than a month until the U.S. election day, the foreign policies of these two figures have become a major concern for voters.

In Washington D.C., Vice President Harris will participate in a commemorative event where she and her husband, Douglas Emhoff, will plant a pomegranate tree at the Vice President’s residence as a symbol of hope and justice. Following the tree planting ceremony, Vice President Harris will deliver a brief speech reflecting on the pain and loss of October 7th, reaffirming her strong commitment to the security of Israel and the Jewish people, while emphasizing her determination to prevent such incidents from happening again.

Meanwhile, Vice President Harris’ husband is expected to attend the U.S. Jewish Committee’s national October 7th commemoration event in Washington D.C. and lead a prayer.

In a separate event, President Biden plans to hold a commemorative event at the White House, where he and First Lady Jill Biden will participate in a Jewish memorial candle lighting ceremony with a rabbi. Responding to Pope Francis’ proposed peace initiatives last Friday, Biden will engage in prayers and fasting on October 7th.

On the other hand, Trump will host a commemorative event at the golf course in Doral, Florida, where he will deliver a speech.

In a statement, Trump’s campaign team said, “Leaders of the Jewish community will come together to commemorate the fateful morning one year ago when 1,200 lives were taken in a tragic event. This event will honor the victims of anti-Semitic violence that has plagued global communities since that day.”
