Trilateral Meeting of US, Japan, and South Korea Reaffirms Peace in the Taiwan Strait, Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Expresses Gratitude

US, Japan, and South Korea Foreign Ministers held a meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly on September 23, emphasizing the importance of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and calling for a peaceful resolution to cross-strait issues. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) expressed gratitude for the ongoing support and attention to stability in the Taiwan Strait shown by the United States, Japan, and South Korea through multilateral high-level meetings.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa, and South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Du-hyup convened a trilateral meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly on the 23rd, Eastern Time.

According to a statement from the US State Department, the three parties reiterated during the meeting that peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait are indispensable elements for international security and prosperity, and they called for a peaceful resolution of cross-strait issues. They strongly opposed any unilateral attempts to change the current status quo in the Indo-Pacific waters.
