Hungarian Prime Minister Supports European Conservatives and Trump Winning Election

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán delivered a speech at a conservative conference in Budapest on Thursday, stating that the upcoming European and American elections present an opportunity for right-wing forces to defeat the “left-leaning spirit” of the world. Orbán also encouraged former U.S. President Trump to defend his “own truth” in the ongoing legal proceedings.

Orbán, a right-wing populist and the longest-serving leader in the European Union, addressed supporters at the Hungarian Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), emphasizing that Western conservatives, including himself and Trump, are under attack in a world built on progressive liberal hegemony.

He highlighted the significant shifts in global political and geopolitical trends coinciding with the upcoming European Parliament elections in June and the U.S. elections in November, stating, “The world order is changing, and we must secure victories in these changes for our cause. Progressive liberals feel threatened, and to replace this era means to replace them.”

The Prime Minister’s speech marked the opening of the third annual Hungarian CPAC conference, which featured several prominent “far-right” figures, such as American media personality Jack Posobiec, U.S. Congressman Paul Gosar of Arizona, and Dutch anti-Islam populist Geert Wilders.

The two-day CPAC event in Hungary underscored the increasing acceptance of this Hungarian leader by American conservatives. Orbán described Hungary as “a conservative island in the progressive liberal sea of Europe.”

Orbán has long portrayed himself as a defender of Christian Europe, opposing Muslim immigration, radicals, and “LGBTQ groups.” Following his controversial remarks against Europe becoming a “multiracial society,” he faced public backlash.

He accused “progressive liberal” governments of “weaponizing state institutions,” stating that President Trump is facing a similar situation and encouraging him to fight for his truth not only in elections but also in court.

Orbán declared that the world order of progressive liberals has failed, with their followers claiming that their work is to fulfill their own ideals rather than representing the people.

According to the Associated Press, Orbán has been attempting for years to unite “far-right” political parties in Europe to form a more cohesive political force within the EU legislative institutions. As the campaign heats up for the European Parliament elections from June 6 to 9, he is calling for a fundamental change in the EU’s leadership.
