Welcoming Autumn: Newark Community Day Unites the Community

On Sunday, September 15th, the University of Delaware (UD) campus in Newark, Delaware was bustling with people enjoying the autumn sun shining brightly. The annual “Newark Community Day” was being held, attracting a diverse crowd of locals and visitors from nearby states including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Maryland.

The community day event was jointly organized by the Newark City Parks and Recreation Department, the University of Delaware, and the Christina School District. Paula Ennis, the Director of Newark City Parks and Recreation Department, mentioned to Dajiyuan that this event has been held for 55 years and is one of the largest annual celebrations in the area. This year, nearly 200 vendors, nonprofit informational enterprises, and organizations participated in the event.

Ennis stated, “This is a wonderful event that the entire community can enjoy. It’s an opportunity for everyone to come together in the fall season. Community Day provides families, friends, residents, and visitors with a chance to get to know Newark.”

The festivities on the university campus included a variety of activities such as delicious food, exquisite artworks, handmade crafts, and entertainment for children. The event served as a platform for local businesses and organizations to showcase their offerings and engage with the community.
