Tourists Complain about Being Trapped on Wugong Mountain in Jiangxi for Several Hours, Enduring Cold in the Wind and Rain.

On September 17th, a news about “Tourists Complaining of Being Stuck on Wugong Mountain for Hours Freezing” surged to the top of the trending list, drawing attention.

September 16th marked the first day of the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday morning. According to Red Star News, on that morning, tourists descending from Wugong Mountain Scenic Area in Pingxiang, Jiangxi Province encountered difficulties. Ms. Jiang described that due to the congestion on the cable car, many tourists had to wait for several hours at the mountaintop, enduring low temperatures and wind and rain, with the perceived temperature being extremely low. The queue was moving slowly.

“Everyone was freezing in the wind and rain, with a perceived temperature of less than 10 degrees, only moving 10 meters in half an hour.”

According to on-site reports, visitors claimed that waiting in line for the cable car would take at least 6 hours, with severe weather conditions on the mountain, fierce winds and heavy rain, and the downhill road steep and dangerous, with tents renting hot water for 30 yuan for 10 minutes.

Scenic area staff stated that the cable car operation started at 6 a.m., and the number of visitors had not yet reached its maximum capacity. Once a certain number of visitors were reached, flow restrictions would be implemented.

According to the official WeChat account of Wugong Mountain Scenic Area, during the Mid-Autumn holiday, visitors could experience events such as the Wugong Mountain Tent Festival, the 1918 concert, the Flower Stream Village K race, and the Parent-Child Paradise in the scenic area.

The incident mentioned above has stirred discussions among netizens, sparking heated debates.

“Stir-Fried Diced Lean Pork”: If you can’t ensure the safety of tourists, don’t even think about organizing tent festivals. Many scenic spots are like this now. As long as they focus on promotion to lure visitors, it’s fine. In the end, accidents are just a small probability event, and most likely, nothing will happen, and they earn a lot of money. Even if something happens, they will blame it on their bad luck, rather than their own lack of organization.

“User2951297”: I am from Jiangxi and have climbed Wugong Mountain many times. I really dislike the tent festival. Those colorful tents, set against the backdrop of the blue sky, white clouds, and green grass, look like patches, very eye-catching. Not to mention the obstruction of road traffic and environmental destruction. The environment is overburdened, and tourists have a poor experience. Only a few individuals renting out tents profit from this.
