US-Lithuania Strategic Dialogue Issues Joint Statement in Support of Taiwan

The 4th US-Lithuania Strategic Dialogue was held on the 12th, and a joint statement was released afterward, expressing support for Taiwan and Lithuania to establish a robust economic partnership and advocating for peace in the Taiwan Strait. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China stated that Taiwan will continue to cooperate with like-minded countries in combating authoritarian expansion.

US Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell and Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis convened the 4th Lithuania-U.S. Strategic Dialogue in the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius, on the 12th. The joint statement issued after the meeting expressed support for Taiwan and Lithuania to establish a strong economic partnership and endorsed Taiwan’s meaningful participation in international forums.

Furthermore, the US and Lithuania expressed concerns about China’s continued provocations in the South China Sea and emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, opposing any unilateral changes to the status quo in the Taiwan Strait through force or coercion.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China stated that safeguarding peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait is an international consensus. The Ministry welcomed Lithuania and other like-minded countries, such as the United States, to continue expressing concerns on international platforms and to take concrete actions to uphold the rules-based international order.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China emphasized that Taiwan will continue to collaborate with like-minded countries to enhance economic and social resilience, jointly combat the threat of authoritarian expansion, and uphold democracy, peace, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
